Louisiana Teaching Fellows is calling on outstanding individuals to become teachers in Greater Baton Rouges highest need schools, as part of Louisianas Recovery School District. Louisiana Teaching Fellows focuses on recruiting leaders who will have a lasting impact on student achievement. Toward this end, we are seeking outstanding and diverse candidates with a relentless drive to make a difference, a dedication to setting only the highest expectations for themselves and their students, and the ability to overcome challenges.

After intensive preparation over the summer, Louisiana Teaching Fellows will begin teaching full-time in the fall of 2010 while pursuing their teacher certification.

We welcome professionals from all fields, as well as recent college graduates.

No previous education coursework or experience is necessary. A Bachelors degree is required.

Program Eligibility Requirements:

Must be able to pass background investigation.
Must have a BA by June 5, 2010 from a U.S institution.
Must have a GPA at or above an absolute minimum of 2.5.
Must have a GPA calculated on a 4.0 scale.
Must not have (or be earning) a BA or MA in Education.
Must not have earned (or be earning) teaching certification in any state.
Must not be enrolled in or have completed another alternate route certification program in Louisiana.
Must not have worked as a full-time teacher in a public school in the state of Louisiana (Recovery School District, charter, Caddo Public Schools, East Baton Rouge Public Schools, etc.).
